  6. This is a Shareware record keeping system for the business needs of
  7. sales personnel, manufacturers (especially those with a Distributor
  8. System), offices with Sales Reps, retail establishments, Utilities,
  9. and any business requiring the tracking AND production of letters
  10. and follow-up activities.  B&B SALELEAD also is a professional Sales Lead 
  11. Label and Letter production system to assist you in maintaining your 
  12. marketing and communication efforts.

  88. QUICK START-UP STEPS
  89. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  90. If you haven't made a BACKUP copy recently, do it now.
  91.  
  92. 1) If you don't already have one, Make a "SALELEAD" directory:
  93.    At C:\, enter MD SALELEAD, then CD\SALELEAD
  94.  
  95. 2) Copy this file to the SALELEAD directory, C:\SALELEAD>COPY A:*.*
  96.  
  97. 3) If the file on the disk is an .EXE file, Enter BBSALE?? 
  98.    (look at the file name by entering DIR A: and you'll see that
  99.    ?? is the version #.  Enter that number instead of ??) 
  100.    and the individual files will be extracted automatically. 
  101.    If the file has a .ZIP extension, enter PKUNZIP BBSALE?? 
  102.  
  103. 4) New system and documentation files will overwrite any old files 
  104.    with the same name.  New data files will not overwrite 
  105.    any important existing data files during 'extraction'  because the 
  106.    new files are named UPGR?.  BBSALELEAD needs these files if you have 
  107.    existing data files that need upgrading. If these UPGRADE files are 
  108.    needed, they will import existing data and then will be renamed 
  109.    to their correct names.  If not needed, they are deleted.  You may 
  110.    have existing files with suffixes like .FRM, .LBL, and .MEM that you 
  111.    have modified for your use.  You will normally overwrite them (if 
  112.    you find you need them later, copy from your backup file).

  114. 5) To print a file explaining changes made in each version 
  115.    C:\SALELEAD>TYPE VERSIONS>PRN    To print the documentation 
  116.    file, C:\SALELEAD>TYPE BBSALE.DOC>PRN   Read installation section 
  117.    and modify config.sys, if necessary.

  119. 6) Use your editor and make sure your CONFIG.SYS file has these two lines:
  120.    FILES=35   (minimum)
  121.    BUFFERS=10 (minimum, try 15 or 20 for speed improvement)

  123. 7) Turn you computer off, then on (for config.sys to take effect).
  124.  
  125. 8) Enter SALELEAD to answer set-up questions, and get to main menu
  126.    See error section in documentation file to resolve any errors.

  128.    Note: If you are upgrading to a newer version, and you're not sure 
  129.    how you will like the latest version, you can test it first by copying 
  130.    existing C:SALELEAD> files to a new subdirectory called, say SALEOLD.  
  131.    Delete the existing files and set up your new system on C:\SALELEAD based 
  132.    on these instructions.   Experiment with the new system and if you 
  133.    like it, you can import your existing files from C:\SALEOLD>.

  136. 9) If you have Expanded Memory and have errors, enter 
  137.    SET QSEMS=0 at DOS (keeps 64k of EMS from being used).
